POEM: Lord, I’m Trying…

Posted by on May 27, 2009 in Poetry: Original Works | 1 comment

POEM:

Lord, I’m reaching… I’m here for you to save.
Please! I’m trying to find a brighter day.
Oh, God, I’m failing to make it my own way.
Father, I’m pleading the blood over my case…

I’m standing on the edge and looking out
Wondering if I fall, who’ll save me from the ground?
Well, here I am… dutiful, obedient, and staring down
Into a world that never wanted me around.

Life can be so cruel and at times I play its fool
Only time can tell if its damage manipulated you
… “Keep your head held high; know where your help comes from …”
Father God, I trust You and I’m leaning on Your Son.

So many things weigh on me and leave me weaker still
But I find strength in listening to Your whispers in my ear
Jesus, only You can rinse me clean of sin
God, please deliver me and make me whole again.

POEM: Goodnight, little cousin… rest in peace!

Posted by on Dec 20, 2008 in Family Facet, Poetry: Original Works | 0 comments

As short as life is, its lessons are long
We learn good from bad, and right from wrong
We take some things for granted; others, we prize
We say hello and sometimes too quickly, goodbye

We go through the motions, grind out the beat
We dance to life’s rhythm; we taste bitters and sweets
Life takes us on highs… and crashes to lows
But through all the trials, we’re eager for more…

There’s something to be said for a smile like yours
One that illuminates the darkness and sings silent chords
There’s a joy to be found in a voice soft and sweet
And inspiration behind a person so unique.

So heart-wrenching the thought of it all thrown away
A life not really yet lived, yet now exists in the grave
Sadly, senseless acts of violence happen every day
We hope that its evil doesn’t make us its prey…

Somehow it got you clenched in its teeth
And all that we’re left with are precious memories
Oh, how I wish you were here baking a cake
To add to family festivities on Christmas Thursday.

The tears will keep coming and the days will seem long
But you’ll live in our hearts and your beat still plays on…
You’ll be missed, Darriel… so caring and sweet
Goodnight, little cousin… rest in peace!

Hatred to Salvation

Posted by on Apr 19, 2006 in Poetry: Original Works, Spiritual | 0 comments

How do you go from hatred to acceptance?
From ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can do this’?
How can you love without forgiveness?
And let go with no resentment?

How can emotions be relinquished?
Harbored grudges be not remembered?
Can you repair a heart that’s tender?
Or walk away from one you’ve befriended?

Life can be so crazy how endings
Tend to be pathway for beginnings
That you never pictured those things bringing
one day you find your own soul singing

Praises to the Father God above and
Embracing your own promised land
Walking in faith, you and Him hand in hand
and never having to battle alone again

I don’t think you heard me so let me be clear
Peace and happiness have always been here
Right within you so won’t you open up your heart
and let God get you right – the end is near…

There comes a time in everybody’s life
That they must make a choice to decide
If they ‘gon let Christ in their life and
And that point all sinful things are left behind

What happened….

What happened…

…to values…and morals…and kindness?

…to our priorities and ambitions?

…to our goals…our hopes…our dreams?

…to doing what’s right just because it’s the right thing to do?

…to standing up for what you believe, and being respected for doing so?

…to placing more importance on family than on self?

…to generosity…to loyalty…to dignity?

…to fidelity…to encouragement…to rationality?

…to the peace that passes understanding?

…to the love that knows no boundary?

…to sanctity…and positivity…and happiness?

…to faith…and life…

Ignorant People

Posted by on May 27, 2005 in Poetry: Original Works | 0 comments

Why do ignorant people
always tend to think they are the wisest??
Always tend to believe their opinions are the most valuable;
hold the most weight.
People are out of their minds these days!
Don’t try to push your idiocy on me…
the longer I listen, the stupider I become.
Get out of here PLEASE

All your education
and you still can’t touch me intellectually.
All your experience
and you still can’t rise above my mentality.
All your jealousy…
and yet you couldn’t handle being me…
Why you wish to hate me?

Ignorant people annoy me.
