I want to acknowledge my mindblowingly awesome husband and express my gratitude to the Lord for choosing me to be his other half. It’s been over 15 years and I am so blessed to have shared them all with him. Through the good and the bad we stood strong — when we didn’t know where we were going or what we were doing, when we thought we had it all figured out (but didn’t haha), when we were on top and when we saw rock bottom… Lord knows we will never be perfect, but my husband makes me feel perfection in every whisper.
I thank him for the life he’s worked so hard to build for me and all of our kids and I admire him for the future he’s creating as well. We have been blessed because of the man Barry has become through his faith and I appreciate his leadership in aligning us with God’s will. There are few things more powerful than a man who bends his life to fit God’s plan rather than bending God’s Word to excuse his decisions. His love keeps me straight — his example keeps me accountable — and his presence in my world makes me want to be better each day than I was before.
Sunday night, I made some fried chicken strips and shrimp, rice and gravy and green beans for Father’s Day then baked some muffins for my crew while Barry watched the game … we had a quiet, low key evening and just enjoyed one another’s company. I can’t imagine my life with ONE THING different. The kids likely won’t ever truly know how blessed they are to have such a man as their father — and thankfully so… because that means they’ll never know what it’s like to NOT have such a man in their life.
We wouldn’t be who we are without one another or without all our babies. These seven – Kylan, Briyana, Kaleb, Tre Barry III), Talia, Avalyn & Zoe – are the reason we breathe and the reason we have fought so hard to become who we are, get where we are and achieve all that we have in our lives. Today I celebrate my husband for being such a great man, but I also celebrate God for blessing us SO abundantly and constantly blowing our minds with His goodness!!!
WE HAD A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
HOPING THAT ALL THE OTHER DADS OUT THERE DID, TOO!
What’s This Series About Anyway??
I believe that strong marriages rely on three key elements:
- Love – unconditional
- Communication – uninterrupted
- Affirmation – uninhibited
Everything else stems from how healthy the couple is in those three areas. Because of this, I’ve started communicating my love for my husband through weekly affirmations… those simple statements of truth that let him know I see all the ways he expresses his love for me. I’ve written a lot about what kind of wife I am and how I love and support my husband. This is the other side of that :)
