I normally steer clear of writing about celebrities. I don’t try to make a habit of getting into other people’s business, especially people I don’t — and probably won’t ever — know personally. It’s almost always done in bad taste and I don’t particular care much for gossip.

*However.*

Since Kim Kardashian loves being in the spotlight and apparently lives her life relying on the truth in the adage, “No publicity is bad publicity,” I’m just going to have to comment on a couple of things. This article isn’t here for juice or rumors or even for really discussing Kim Kardashian, but more about exposing the pattern we’re seeing in women who use their physical assets to forge their way into the limelight.

First of all, who gets divorced based on irreconcilable differences after 10 weeks of marriage? I mean, seriously… how much of an attempt can you honest give to reconciling your differences in ten weeks? Most people don’t even start having differences by ten weeks. They started having marital issues, tried to work through, and failed quicker than some people end flings!

I can’t keep up with this chick and it makes me cringe to know that this is what someone’s daughter grew up to become. It makes me fearful for my own four daughters. She’s been openly bounced back and forth between so many different men, the reality show featuring this “star” (what exactly is she famous for to begin with anyway??) should be named BARELY Keeping Up With the Kardashians. So, now the burning question: Who has any doubt that this marriage was completely about the money? Trust me, I’m not totally off base here. Even her own publicist (okay ex publicist) is being sued for $200,000 — surprise, surprise: MORE money — by Kim for claiming it was a sham.

I can’t help but scratch my head on the public exposure given to their ceremony. Who pimps their own wedding out like that? Someone who is only getting married for the more than 17 million bucks that will hit their bank shortly thereafter… I honestly don’t think Kim ever had any intention of remaining married to her husband, who seemed pretty distraught and willing to work things out — until he found out that it was already over. She filed for divorce and skipped town. Talk about adding insult to injury…

It’s unfortunate how lightly these spotlight types treat marriage. Is nothing sacred anymore? :( Lord knows that ideally she’s the last person on Earth I’d consider to be a role model or an example to young girls, but the fact is that she IS considered those things by many young women who are growing up with the mentality that they don’t have to have any substance about themselves as long as they have a rockin’ body. Good GOD, I pray my daughters never adopt that as a personal philosophy.

If you ask me, the Kardashians don’t represent anything I’d want to keep up with. I wish the media still possessed integrity and morals, but it seems those days are over which is why the importance of communicating with children is an ever-present necessity. Our daughters, nieces, and cousins are growing up in a world full of sex and manipulation that is fueled by greed and driven by desire. Our sons and nephews are growing up into a generation of men who are not being taught what it means to be real men.

More people need to worry about keeping up with themselves… the world would definitely be a much better place. And I’m curious — how many of you are signers of the petition to get Kim’s show Keeping Up With the Kardashians off of the air? :) For the record, I’ve never seen a single episode. Stumbling across small details of their lives online is far more than enough for me… the Kim Kardashian trainwreck is one I have no problem keeping myself from staring at.
