Ok, so perhaps I’m only going to be a celebrity if you define ‘celebrity’ as someone who gets like 3% of the normal 15-minutes of fame ;) but nonetheless, I will be singing LIVE on national television tomorrow. On Wednesday of last week (5/25/11), I got a call on my cell phone at 1:12pm from an unfamiliar number. I got to the phone too late so I dialed the number back. A lady answered, “NBC Universal; how may I direct your call?” Seriously?! I explained I missed a phone call from them and she told me there was no way for her to know who it was so unless it was a wrong number, they would likely call back.

Great. Because, you know, I love waiting.

Luckily, I wouldn’t have to wait long. A few seconds after I hung up the phone, I got the call. 1:13pm, I answered and almost passed out from shock when the voice on the other end said, “This is (producer’s name) from NBC’s Today Show; we heard your video and loved it and we want to fly you out to New York to sing LIVE on the Today Show for Today’s Voice next week.”

Whaaaaat…??

No lie, the woman actually had to ASK me if I wanted to do it and whether I was excited because I was that quiet. LOL Of course I told her I would love to and that, no, thinking about it wouldn’t be necessary. I’m SO there. With bells on. Or not. Whatever floats their fancy. So, in just four short hours, I will be boarding a plane headed for that concrete jungle where dreams are made from to either have a fantastic experience or change my life as I know it. Either way, I’m game!

Just make sure you’re watching during the fourth hour of the Today Show tomorrow morning — I’ll be belting out 30-seconds of How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore for my chance to become a Today’s Voice finalist! Oh, and if you TWEET, be sure to kick in the hashtag #katIStodaysvoice to show support — I’ll be following it on my ‘Droid.
