Since capturing this video, I’ve spoken to my husband about how I’m feeling and he wants me to call and set up an appointment to get the initial consultation and records done and start looking into whether I want to move forward. I love that he’s always looking out for what makes me happy, but I’m really looking a bit deeper into myself because even though braces aren’t such a huge deal, I want to be sure that they are necessary for me to be comfortable being “me.” Maybe I sound silly saying that, but for some reason I feel like straight teeth really shouldn’t seem this necessary… I’d love your feedback after watching the vlog.

First I want to say you deserve to get braces! I believe it’s important for you children to see you taking care of yourself. Now if you were talking liposuction thats just picking on your flaws, but braces are kind of like doing your hair or putting on makeup. If it will give you the freedom to not think about it when you smile or laugh then it is worth it! Just think you will be smiling big all the time without a care. I realize that easy for me to say you have to figure financially if it’s the right time. Is there a dental college near you or maybe you could include them in your web page and get a discount!
Good Luck

Kat, I totally believe you should do whatever makes you feel your best. BUT~~personally, I like sort of crooked teeth! Anybody can have a perfect and straight smile, but I think that little things like a snaggletooth give a person character. For real…I have a snaggletooth myself, and I love it! Even though I do have a sidebite and could use some *functional* correction myself, I don’t think I would want to change my snaggletooth. I whiten my teeth and am pretty deliberate about their care (I brush and floss after every meal, even when I’m out of the house), but I love that small imperfection that makes my smile cute! Maybe others don’t appreciate it like I do, but I don’t care. As you say in your vlog post, if everybody around you has a ‘perfect’ smile, why not embrace the difference in yours? I understand we all have things that we just either like or don’t like, especially about ourselves, but maybe you should look at an ‘imperfection’ as something special that makes you YOU! Because guess what? YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SMILE! :D
