The last week has been absolutely nuts. Between looking for houses, Zoe being sick (again), the kids talking me into fireworks for New Year’s, my birthday, finding a house and leasing it, running around buying furniture and hauling it to the new house, cleaning the new house, and school starting back for me (Monday) AND the kids (today) it’s a wonder I haven’t just fell over dead, especially considering I’m doing all of this with Barry being offshore. I can’t tell you how difficult it was for me to decide on a house without ANY input from him. By the time he was able to get a strong enough satellite internet signal to download the photos I emailed him, I had already paid what was required to lease the house and got the key.
I struggled with what to do for several days. I felt so insecure, not knowing if Barry would like the house and the neighborhood — and the furniture I picked out. I’m not used to doing anything major without him so it definitely took a lot out of me, but I’m happy to say it’s all over and we’re moving into our new home Saturday. I went today to handle the utilities… the phone, internet, and cable will be connected on Saturday. I bought some furniture yesterday and some today and have already taken it to the house; some I will be picking up tomorrow and taking to the house… the rest will be delivered midday on Friday. Thursday, my step sons go back to school and I’ll be juggling picking them up from the bus stop along with everything else, but I’m REALLY excited about taking them to see the house.
It’s not huge, but it’s certainly not small. It’s perfect for us. Barry and I of course still share our room with Zoe, but when we move, I will be putting a twin trundle bed underneath Briyana’s full size bed so Zoe can start sleeping in there. Ava and Talia will be sharing a room; I bought them a perpendicular bunk bed set with a desk attached. Tre will be sharing his room with Kylan and Kaleb when they visit, so I gave him the sun room even though Briyana begged for it. His room will actually be partially their recreational space since it’s so large. In there will be a twin/full bunk bed set as well as a twin bed so that all three boys have their own space to sleep at night. That room will also have the kids’ TV, playstation, etc. We will be putting some thicker curtains in the windows so it won’t be quite so bright in there.
I got a nice dining room table that has six chairs. I will be buying a high chair for Zoe so that we can all eat together. When Kylan and Kaleb are at the house, Barry and I will just eat in the living room so the kids can all sit at the table. Pretty soon, I’m going to buy a breakfast nook with two chairs so that he and I will have our own table to sit at when the boys are visiting, but for now the living room will do until I find one at a decent price.
Zoe has been alternating vomiting and bouts of diarrhea all weekend long; she has been alert and despite not being able to keep any food down, she’s done well with taking in plenty of fluids so I didn’t find it necessary for a doctor’s visit. Today she seemed to feel a lot better so I took her with me to run some errands and then went to the playground at McDonald’s so she could play while she ate some chicken nuggets and drank Powerade. I’m happy to report my precious baby did not vomit today AT ALL and was all smiles this evening until her belly started hurting. She is in bed now though and I’m hoping she wakes up 100% well!!
I’m pretty sure my clients are ready to kill me… sometimes it gets that way. Being a work-at-home mom is a crazy business. I love my work, but of course my family always comes first and right now, that’s just how it has to be so a lot of projects have been rescheduled, which hasn’t made everyone thrilled for obvious reasons. There’s so much going on, I can’t throw myself in any more directions. I hate not being productive, but that will soon change so I hope no one gets SUPER irate within the next couple of days. I thankfully do not have anything to do until 3pm tomorrow (I think) so I’m planning on getting on the ball with projects first thing in the morning and working until about 2 but we’ll see how that goes when tomorrow comes.
I’m also vying for the spot of Mamavation Mom for the first 7-week campaign of 2011 so be sure to Tweet and Facebook in support of me (you can find out where and how by visiting this post: My Mamavation Application) and have not had ONE Pepsi (or any other soda) since 2011 began… be sure to watch my application video in that post and copy the tweet listed there to show support (it will help me become a finalist!) Thanks in advance on that!!! Well, guys, the washing machine just stopped so I need to load the kids’ uniforms into the dryer and take my behind to BED! I gotta have them on the bus in five hours. YAY! haha Hope everyone is enjoying 2011 — be blessed!
