With all of the overdraft fees that you can incur using a traditional checking account, someone who doesn’t have a lot of resources to work with probably finds that using a bank actually brings them more harm than good. We have been using the Walmart Money Card for over a year now and have loved the freedom of never having to worry about a bounced check or overdrafts for those miscalculations that result in a 21-cent negative balance that racks up fees of $35!
The Walmart Money card has no monthly service fee, accepts direct deposit, and works just like a checking account for integrating with services like PayPal or Google Checkout. You can use the card just like any other VISA debit card, enjoying the convenience of cash back at the checkout and ATM withdrawals. Needing to make a deposit doesn’t have to be an issue when you’re traveling — stop off at any Walmart and you’re good to go!
In addition to all of that, save your family money in the event that they need to wire money to you because loading money directly to your card is quick and easy — it can be done at any register at Walmart and only costs them $4.94 (your reload fee is only $3 when you have the card with you)… a huge difference when compared to MoneyGram and Western Union! The card costs $3 to activate and you can add a second card for $3 as well. You can load money directly onto your card when cashing your paycheck at Walmart and the reload fee is waived (the $3 check cashing fee still applies)! You will enjoy online bill pay just like a regular checking account as well as balance notifications sent via email, text message, or both. You can also text a special shortcode in order to get on-demand balance information sent to your cell phone!
