If anyone has missed how much I love to cook (and — ahem — love to eat) then you’ve obviously not been around here long, or haven’t been paying attention. Recently, (after our failed Cabbage Soup Diet attempt) Lynsey (The Party Plan Coach) and I made a pact to eat healthier. As such, I’ll be trying to cook from scratch a little more than I have been which leads me to believe that I will soon be in the market for better quality cookware than I have now. Most of it is really old. Okay, all of it is really old. I’ve been checking out a stock pot and steamer insert from the Le Creuset line. In addition, I’m also going to update my bakeware collection and make an effort to get the whole family together for more meals. With Barry working overnight, it’s often difficult… but it’s not impossible.
Do you and your family eat meals together?
If not all meals, is there one meal in particular that is essential for you all to get together? For those who have a spouse who works late at night, how do you work that into your routine? I’d also love to get any advice my readers have on great kitchen gadgets or tips on healthy eating, preparing meals kids will actually eat (lol), and cooking from scratch! Any ideas, suggestions, or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

You need to get with us at Mamavation! Its all about a life style change!
We eat dinner together 95% of the time. That 5% is when hubby gets stuck in horrible Houston traffic and the kids are melting down because they are “starving”.
I get the kids involved with the cooking. They can help me pick the veggies and fruit when we go to the market. If they have a say in it, they are more likely to eat it.
You can make just about any meal a healthy one. Switch out regular pasta and rice for whole grains, qunioa. Skip the frying. You can bread anything with a little bit of panko or even Whole Wheat breadcrumbs that you make yourself and bake it.
