It’s hard to believe that in two weeks, I will be registered for the American Idol audition and sitting in my hotel room a half mile from the New Orleans Arena staring at my wristband, awaiting the audition! Since posting my initial blog entry, “Help Me Get to the American Idol Auditions,” I’ve received such an overwhelming amount of support, I can’t even express how much it has meant to me. I’ve had several friends contribute to offset the cost of the trip by “donating” or by ordering blog services; I’ve even had clients I’ve done work for in the past who have seen my tweets email me to order random graphics just to help me raise the money to get there! It’s been awesome. I’m about $300 from what I need to get there without putting a strain on us so if you know ANYONE who needs design work done (blog, web, graphic), be sure to refer them to me! I also provide editing services.

Yesterday, I made it a bit more official. I reserved our hotel room, just BLOCKS from the venue, for the two nights we will be there. I also did it through Priceline.com and got a GREAT rate on the room. My husband has already gotten his days off from work approved, so everything is set! Since Barry is off on Wednesdays and Thursdays, he’s taking off Friday – Monday for the trip. We’re heading down to my mom’s (where the kids will be staying while we’re gone) on the 21st, taking the kids to the zoo on the 22nd, visiting with family on the 23rd, and then leaving around 3:30am on the 24th so we can get to the Arena around 5:30am to sit and wait to register for the audition, which is on Monday the 26th. After the audition, we’re heading back to my mom’s to spend the night and leaving early the following morning to come home since Barry has to be back at work that night.

After registration, I’m HOPING to hook up with some other bloggers who just happen to be attending the Bloggers On Bourbon event hosted by Trisha (@MomDot) and Leah (@BookieBoo) just BLOCKS away from where Barry and I will be staying. (WHOO HOO!) I am hoping to have time to run into awesome bloggers, like Kim (@mentallyinked), Lynsey (@partyplandivas), Brittany (@BrittanyGreer5), Christine (@YoungMommy), Paula (@frostedfingers), the two DOUBLE DUTY DIVAS (@DoubleDutyDivas – whom I’ve worked with on blog campaigns before and run ads for currently): Cecelia (@CoolBabyKid) and Bridgette (@BridgetteLA), Lori (@gutimom), Amy (@momspark), Nicole (@MissBlondie919), Rhea (@mommy23monkeys), Kim (@whatsthatsmell), Kas (@waystosave), Jessica (@jess_benton), Shasta (@keepinitcheap), Jeanine (@jtrophy) and morrrrrre :) They have a ton of things planned so I’m hoping to intrude briefly at some point Saturday night simply to stick my head in and say HI since they will all be leaving on Sunday. I considered going down on Friday so I’d have more time, but I just can’t justify the extra expense when we already have to stay until Monday night :(

Sunday, Barry and I are going to play “tourist” and go around the city in search of photo opps. Okay, I will be in search of photo opps. He will be looking at his watch wondering how much longer I’ll be dragging him around the city. LOL I’m also hoping to meet up with Stesha Sims (@SteshaSimsSays), who lives just about an hour from New Orleans, on Sunday – still waiting on the final word on that one! I’m still working on our schedule for Sunday so I can fit in as many sights as possible while we are there.

Monday, we will be up bright at early again to be back to the Arena at 5am to wait (again) for the audition process to begin. I’ve already gotten my release form printed, signed, and ready to go. I’m ecstatic… and yet STILL undecided about what to sing LOL My polls are still running – you can vote on which song I should choose by clicking here … there are two polls. I think right now, Listen by Beyonce and Fallin by Alicia Keys are winning! I won’t ramble on (because I could go on all night… haha)! I will just say THANK YOU SO MUCH from the bottom and the top of my heart to everyone who has pitched in and given me their business in order to make this happen. I’m eternally grateful! I pray that God blesses you abundantly for being a vessel He could use to make a way!
