The winner is commenter #9

Lynn McCallum

As you all probably already know, I have had Fibromyalgia for about 18 years now. I blog about it sporadically at For the Love of Chaos. When I was first diagnosed, aside from the doctors that were knowledgeable about my condition (who actually were few in far between) no one seemed to have ever heard of it. I got so tired of explaining what this questionable illness was that I stopped even mentioning it. For years, I barely said anything about it at all. I suffered in silence and learned to just push myself through the pain because providing anyone with the excuse as to why I couldn’t do something would open up the neverending dialog about this disease which seemed to have involuntarily included me in some sort of secret society of pain-ridden people whose problems were all in their head… or so it was thought.

Now, through my social media networks, I’ve become SO much more comfortable discussing what ails me because I’ve realized that instead of such a small group as I had believed most of my life, there is actually an army of individuals with the same symptoms I have. I don’t have to deal with the embarrassment of so many questions because unlike two decades ago, people now have (for the most part) at least HEARD of Fibromyalgia before. I can’t describe how elated I was the first time I saw a commercial about it! When I heard a woman describing how frustrating and disheartening it was for people to tell her that her pain was all in her head, I could TOTALLY relate!! It was a relief to me just to feel I wasn’t quite so alone anymore.

You can imagine how thrilled I was to meet Sue Ingebretson on Twitter. She has dealt with chronic illness for many years and wrote her book, FibroWHYalgia, to not only share her plight toward rebuilding her own wellness but to provide a roadmap for other sufferers who have felt like there was no hope for them to overcome the illnesses that affect their lives daily! Complete with inspirational quotes, humor, wit, and such a strong touch of personality, FibroWHYalgia is a must-read for anyone whose life has been interrupted by chronic illness! Page by page, you gain insight, knowledge, and revelation as light bulbs continuously come on in your mind paragraph by paragraph as you read how Sue’s thirst for knowledge, determination to get answers, and strength she drew from her faith brought her to get control of an illness that had at one point controlled her. I received my book from Sue this morning and have since had a hard time putting it down. I’ve yet to complete it, but I have already been blessed by what I’ve found within it thus far.

I highly recommend that ANYONE who is – or has loved ones who are – suffering from chronic illness and wants a deeper understanding of what is going on make it a point to purchase this book, which retails for $19.99 plus shipping and handling. You will find it on her website at www.RebuildingWellness.com (where you can receive an autographed copy!) and also have the option of purchasing from Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com! In keeping with National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day (May 12) Sue has been so kind as to offer one of my readers an autographed copy absolutely FREE!
