Last year, I made a ton of great resolutions… most of which, I forgot all about {or lost interest in} before the calendar even hit February. This year, I’m going to be more realistic – AND I’m going to be practical. I’ve spent wasted way too much time over the last 12 months of my life. I’ve devoted countless hours to absolutely nothing… hours that could have been spent with my kids… or writing my books… or in prayer… or supporting the ministry God gave me. Hours turned into weeks… weeks turned into months… and pretty soon, it was 5 minutes ago and I was sitting here saying, “Wow. What a wasted year.”

{ … a year I will never get back … }

I refuse to do that again. This year, my resolutions are simple and essential. They are not things I *want* to do… they are things I *have* to do.

  1. I will put my family back at the top of my priority list. Sadly, I have to admit to myself that they haven’t been at the top. Honestly, nothing has been at the top. Absolutely nothing. I don’t care what else comes up; NOTHING is going to come before my husband and my kids. Nothing is going to make me say, “Just a minute.” If they want my attention, they get it – 100%.
  2. My ministry and my books. God gifted me in so many areas and I allowed my ministry to get blindsided this year by my circumstances. It’s tough to admit, but I haven’t had my mind and my heart “stayed” on Jesus as I should have. This year, I will. Period. I’ve had vision and ambition for long enough. Ambition doesn’t get you anywhere. You have to actually do something with it. I have five books that are going to be awesome… but awesome doesn’t mean a whole lot if no one ever reads them. I will publish at least two of those this year. And they will be awesome.
  3. I will manage my time wisely. I am going to be creating a {doable} schedule and sticking to it. I will work during work times and NOT WORK outside work times. I can’t continue working 24 hours a day and getting nothing done. I’m my own worst enemy when I operate that way.

That’s it. I’ve got to get my life back in order, turn my attention back to God and my family, and get what needs to be done, done. Check out my recap of 2009, and stay tuned for the changes that will take place and the things that are moving forward in 2010!!
