I just checked my email to find this:

I mean, I’m all for keeping things out of landfills, which is the purpose behind FreeCycle… it allows people to post things they are looking to get rid of and things people are looking to acquire so that one man’s trash becomes another man’s treasure. I’ve gotten 2 television sets from FreeCycle that are both still in great shape {one’s a flat screen}… I’ve given away a couple of cribs and a good deal of baby clothes. People are always in search of things and a lot of the time, you can find what you need for free on FreeCycle – things that are in usable condition that other people don’t have a need for anymore. It keeps things that still have life in them off the curb waiting for trash pickup.
I love FreeCycle. It’s a great system for recycling goods and an excellent way to be “greener” for those who aren’t otherwise quite so environmentally friendly. However… KoolAid and dip packets? I mean, were no neighbors at home? lol

I completely agree with you on this one. It’s like when I went to a large baby resale event and people were selling half packages of diapers. Just give them away to someone else already.
Selling packs of open diapers? Um… yeah, no thanks. LOL I’m with you on that one! haha
ha ha ha Hey I could use some Kool-aid, see if they’ll ship…LMBO!

You’re crazy LOL!!!
Funny! This post made my day. Maybe she was regifting?
I don’t know LOL! I was cracking up…
I wonder if it’s Pink Lemonade flavor??
If so, hook me up!
bwahahaha
haha! Ok, I will drive 20 minutes to go pick up 6 packs of 20-cent Kool Aid. Then mail them to you. LOL
Or here’s an idea: take your butt to the store LMBO!!!
I think that is hilarious that she actually posted that on FreeCycle. haha I mean, seriously… just USE them. LOL
Oh and I just saw she listed the flavor – it’s TROPICAL PUNCH >>> MY FAVORITE! Maybe I should go pick them up after all? LOL
When I post looking for things I get ads for people selling the stuff on craigslist. Then they claim I responded to their craigslist post once I call them out on it.

LOL!!! That’s dirty. You should report them. That’s against FreeCycle’s TOS.
I reported him, you know what he did, he faked an email making it look like I sent him a response to his ad on craigslist, I also reported him to freecycle but the admin for our freecycle doesn’t like me, because I do not feel I have to go to church to believe in God. I have it all screened. He was getting very verbally abusive and if my husband say OMG, he would have acted like he was buying doods crap just to pounce his filthy mouth.

Oh wow. LOL That’s a huge mess. Some people are just so petty. That sucks that you had to experience that!
I love FreeCycle too, used to be the “owner” of my local group but gave it up … the things some people offer are just crazy!!! LOL
I too have been able to get a lot of items, my kids got a Gamecube with games all still working two years ago on FreeCycle for Christmas, my DD has a 26″ TV works great, we have a huge computer set up for our living room TV, all free through FreeCycle .. great place but seriously this offer is a bit odd!!

Yep, we got a 32″ flat screen that the lady said was “going out” and it has worked perfectly for us for about 4 months now LOL!! Still going strong… :) I love FreeCycle.
Just not for Kool Aid. LOL
WHOA! LOl That’s pretty funny…now I needa go see what this FreeCycle schtuff you are talking about!

You should … if you have stuff you need to get rid of that is still operable… or if you ever need anything you don’t mind having second-hand, FreeCycle is great. :)
Just not for gravy packs. hehe
I have been meaning to check Freecycle out in m area. Here in the corner of Texas we recycle NOTHING. I think it is so sad.
Although, I don’t want someone elses koolaid. lol

I’m actually really anti-Freecycle because they promote giving away animals for free, and that’s a really dangerous thing to do (to the animals – research groups can’t pay for animals, so they prey on things like this) but anyway – yeah, I can’t see giving away stuff like that. Way too bizarre!

lol Well newspapers and Craigslist promote giving away animals for free also… You can’t knock the method for what type of people happen to be responding. That’s certainly not the majority :) We got our puppy for free from someone standing out in the WalMart parking lot with a box. Are you also anti-people-standing-outside-of-WalMart? haha Not trying to be facetious, but just saying… FreeCycle is a great way for people to connect with others who want to keep usable products out of our nation’s landfills. You should reconsider. :) Thanks for visiting and I appreciate the comment!
To be completely honest, yeah I am – I’ve actually taken a whole litter of kittens that someone was standing by a store with & taken them to a no care shelter so they have a better chance at going to a responsible home. Sadly not all animal owners will be as good as you are. But then again I work a lot with shelters and promoting education about these subjects so I’m probably a bit biased & for that reason won’t patronize freecycle & flag all those posts on Craigslist! To each their own :)
We all have our passions. :) LOL @ taking a whole litter of kittens … Kudos for looking out for them! Animals need advocates too :)
Oh & I’m all forkeeping things out of landfills – but animals shouldn’t be in landfills in the first place, so they don’t belong on freecycle. But anyway… I recycle, sell at garage sales, and repurpose. But kool-aid & gravy would end up in the trash!
Fair enough – very true, animals would certainly not be a landfill issue lol :)
My favorite are the posters repeatedly asking for high-ticket items like an iPod nano and a Wii.
