o you have a hard time remembering the things you’ve committed to doing for your health? We all have GREAT intentions when we set out to develop new habits that lead toward a healthier lifestyle, but sometimes life gets in the way and we let those great intentions fall to the wayside. Habitwise developed a series of tracking programs to help!
- get LOSS™ ($28) has two programs designed specifically for Women and Men. get LOSS is a habit development system designed by medical professionals that helps you monitor the habits necessary to achieve healthy weight loss. For women, there is a guide and bracelet collection to wear on the wrists while men will receive a guide and token collection which is housed in his pant pockets. Both systems are equally effective at helping to track food groups, calories, points and other
nutritional measurements, based on the habit plan you choose to follow. Self-care begins each morning by placing your bracelet collection on one wrist or token collection in one pocket. Throughout the day, simply shift the appropriate color and quantity of bracelets or tokens to your other wrist or pocket with each meal and snack. One side shows goals for the day, the other tracks your accomplishments! - get TRACKING™ for Kids ($28) is a habit development system designed by medical professionals that helps kids monitor healthy eating and physical activity habits. Use the guide and wristband collection to track food groups, servings and exercise. get TRACKING™ is fun, educational and is used in the same manner as get LOSS for Women. Standard size is approximately 6.5 inches in circumference, but larger sizes are also available.
- get WET™ ($24) also has two programs, one tailored for Women and the other for Men. This system helps monitor the habits necessary to increase water intake. Women use the guide and bracelet collection to track your daily glasses, ounces or the USDA’s Total Water Adequate Intake while men use the guide and token collection. Each is used in the same manner as the get LOSS system with one side showing goals for the day and the other, your accomplishments.
I was given the opportunity to try out the get LOSS for Women and the get TRACKING for Kids. I think the get TRACKING system works best for children with a good sense of responsibility and at least a decent level of maturity. My 4 and 6 year olds simply wanted to play with the bracelets. They didn’t understand that they were part of a program {or didn’t care!} lol However, my 9 year old daughter was interested in using the stylish bracelets to track her food intake and I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy she found it to follow the program. She picked up the guide and started all on her own! The bracelets are pretty thick and durable and very colorful. Amazingly, I don’t believe any of the bracelets have gotten broken (which is a miracle in this house!)
As for the get LOSS for Women, while the bracelets are very nice – I love that the colors aren’t “bright” in appearance so they don’t stand out against you, but they are vibrant and the colors compliment one another. The bracelets with this system have a sophisticated yet fun style! The colors easily correspond to the food group they represent (veggies = green; oils = yellow, etc) so it makes it easy to keep track of what is what. The material the beads are strung on is not particularly thin, but I did find that my 17 month old ended up popping several of them off my arm while I was wearing them. I had to be careful around her as she continuously tried to pull them off of me! Under normal wear, they seem to hold up well; I actually got a couple of them stuck on my wedding ring as I took them on/off and none of them got broken that way. {I believe my baby was just being extremely forceful – she has quite a grip!}
All in all, I loved the idea behind both programs I got to try out. I think it helps tremendously to have a constant visual reminder of your success (or failure) when it comes to important goals like being health conscious!
About Habitwise
Habitwise™ began with a simple weight loss tool originally named, A-Wrist-A-Trac, which was discovered by a team of clinicians at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska. A small group of professional women saw the potential of A-Wrist-A-Trac and were inspired by the low-tech innovation that could be used to remedy challenges in their own lives- especially the challenge between knowing and doing when it comes to living a healthier life. Lunch meetings, baseball games, conference calls, or dance lessons are all distractions that keep us from doing what we know is best. The women found that simple bracelets served as friendly reminders and empowered them to accomplish many goals, thus paving the journey for Habitwise. The technology was licensed from the University in cooperation with UNMC’s technology transfer division, UNeMed Corporation, and now the women have ignited their entrepreneurial spirit and are out changing lives!

I think I would like the get WET™ for Women
Habit Plan No. 4
I have a hard time consuming the recommended 8 glasses of water each day. I usually start off real well but throughout the day, I get side tracked or just grab a can of soda which is not good.
I think this will help me be mindful of how much I am consuming each day.

Plan #1 would definitely be the one for me. It would help remind me of what items I NEED to eat each day, and keep track when I don’t remember later in the day! Mushy brains need reminders all the time. *sigh*

I would choose get LOSS for Women

I’m trying to loose weight before we go to florida next year and I think this could really help. With a 18 mnth old running around you tend to loose track of what you have eaten during the day.
