DSCF5602Do you like Taco Salad? My husband LOVES tacos, but I’m sick of the same old boring soft-or-hard options… and I tried last week to make it “fun” by buying some of those flat-bottomed stand up tacos and… well, they just weren’t much fun after all. BUT since my husband LOVESSSS tacos, I had to think of SOMETHING.

And voila – Taco Salad. Simple. Quick. Delicious.

To make this dish, you’ll need:

  1. Flour tortillas
  2. Shredded cheese
  3. Shredded lettuce
  4. Sour cream
  5. Hormel white chicken chili
  6. Ground beef {1 pound makes about 4-5 taco salad bowls. 2 pounds makes 8-10.}
  7. Mild taco seasoning
  8. Mild taco sauce (or picante sauce)
  9. Aluminum foil
  10. Cooking spray

Brown the hamburger meat, drain, and add taco seasoning according to the instructions on the package. Set aside.

Make several balls with aluminum foil so that you have one ball for each taco salad you intend to prepare. Place the balls on a large cookie sheet in the oven on about 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly coat each side of the tortillas with cooking spray then drape them over the balls. As they bake, they will fold over the balls to create the “bowl” for your salads :) Just bake until they are golden brown and formed.

In a small saucepan, warm up about half the jar of chili.

Inside each tortilla bowl, place lettuce, seasoned hamburger meat, chili, cheese, sour cream, and taco/picante sauce. Done :)

Simple. Quick. Delicious!

Until next time...
