Everyone knows that I was planning on attending the San Antonio audition for American Idol last weekend, but it ended up that I couldn’t afford the trip so I attended a tryout in Jackson, MS to compete for an all expense paid trip to the auditions in Birmingham!!!
“The Clarion-Ledger WDBD-Channel 40 auditioned local hopefuls on Aug. 19 for the Fox network’s American Idol competition at the Grandview Theatre in Madison, MS 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.”
I didn’t make it unfortunately… I did very well, but they were looking for people from the Jackson area, so even though I really believed they would call me back for the 2nd tryout, they didn’t :( They let me audition but were very clear that if they could find the 20 finalists among people that actually resided in the area, I wouldn’t get a call back. And, I didn’t get a call back :( It was a nice break though - I got to go shopping, got my haircut, went out to eat, and spent a lot of time with two very best friends, so it was WELL worth the trip.
I stayed at my best friend, Veronica’s, house and we went to the tryouts at 9:30 yesterday… it was SOOOOO hot and we stood outside for 3.5 hours in the sun waiting to get in. Finally, I auditioned… Oh well… maybe next year, right?! lol Anyway, we had a BLAST… me and Veronica see each other as often as we can which is usually about 2-3 times per year, but I haven’t seen Renitra in about 8 years or so… all 3 of us grew up together so the little mini-reunion was wonderful!
Here are the pictures… LOL y’all knew that was coming!!!

I’m very proud of you and so glad to see Renitra after such a long time and of course Veronica. I’m glad you had a reunion with such good friends and had a great weekend out and about. You look gorgeous (as usual). Don’t give up on the singing… you sing too good to give up. Sing everywhere you can and get that practice and exposure. No one makes it in just one try out, they sing everywhere else lst. Personally, I would have picked you! I love you, mom.
Kat just having an opportunity to audition of AI is an FEAT!
I hope you enjoyed seeing your friends and didn’t worry too much about Barry & the kids!
